MSGR PROF. TOMÁŠ HALÍK, is a celebrated author, academic and winner of the 2014 Templeton Prize. Ordained a priest in 1978, he worked in the “underground Church” and as a psychotherapist for drug addicts. For decades he was a close friend and colleague of the famous Václav Havel, first President of the Czech Republic after the fall of communism. He is an international advocate for dialogue between people of different religious beliefs. Halik now teaches sociology at Charles University (Prague) and is pastor of the Academic and student Parish of Charles University, Prague. In June 2016, Oxford University bestowed on him a Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa for his role in inter-religious dialogue.
