In a resounding testament to the power of community and generosity, the Catholic Foundation is pleased to share that the 2023 Annual Grants funding round has successfully allocated over $240,000 to support 23 grassroots ministries and projects across the Archdiocese of Brisbane.
Among these, eight initiatives stand out for their dedicated focus on youth ministry and programs within parishes, including specialised activities for toddlers and small children. Fr Louie Jimenez from St Patrick’s Parish in Gympie is excited to see the youth ministry within the parish grow over the coming year. “We’ve lost our volunteer coordinator who helped us with youth activities across both the primary and high school – with this funding, we can employ someone to grow this youth ministry here in Gympie,” said Fr Louie.
Grant Committee Chair, Mr Michael Forbes, highlighted the significance of these grants, stating, “These grants ensure that local, grassroots programs have access to the funding they need for their programs to grow and succeed. There are so many good ideas about growing the faith and engagement within our local Catholic communities, but also in taking Jesus to the world. Funding can often be a burden, so, through the grants program, these ministries have a chance of getting their message out there.”
The grants program is supported through donations to the Annual Catholic Campaign, as well as yearly gifts from generous supporters. Through their generosity, donors empower initiatives that serve the Church and deserving local programs. The generosity of donors provides substantial support to organisations, ministries, and individuals dedicated to addressing the spiritual, educational, and social needs of our community’s most vulnerable members.

The impact of these funded initiatives is far-reaching, and makes a tremendous difference to the lives of those they touch. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the donors whose generosity has made these achievements possible. Your belief in our mission fuels our commitment to creating a more Jesus-centred, compassionate, and connected community. Thank you for building up the good works of our local Church,” said Mr Forbes.
