When Archbishop Quinn arrived in Queensland, he was caught off-guard by the sheer size and scope of the diocese he had to manage. Despite this, he worked tirelessly for the good of the Church – traveling by steamer, on foot and by horse to visit his many parishioners and the few clerics placed in Queensland at the time.

It is because of this dedication that we present our long-term donors to the Archdiocese with a Quinn Medal. Like Bishop Quinn, they have made a life-long commitment to contribute to the good works of the Church to ensure the continuity of our faith.

On the 26th November 2020, Norah Zipf was presented with the Quinn Medal for her loving and lifelong, tireless contribution to the Catholic Church. Two of her children, Bernard and Shelley, as well as Father Morgan, were present. She is truly living a life close to Jesus, and at 97 is an inspiration to her children and the faithful in her home parish of Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

“In addition to her financial support, Mum has participated as a Welcomer, Reader and Eucharistic Minister for decades”, said Norah’s daughter Shelley. “She is a true example of what it means to live your faith every day.”
